Guía de Relojes was born out of a simple conviction: most watch guides on the internet are written by people who have never worn an automatic watch, or who are paid to recommend whatever their advertisers want. We are different.
We are a team of watch enthusiasts who have been active for over a decade, following communities such as WatchUSeek, r/Watches and the leading European watch forums. We have personally purchased, worn and analysed the models we recommend. When we say that the Seiko Presage has the finish of a €1,000 watch, it’s because we’ve compared it directly with €1,000 watches.
Our aim is clear: to help you choose the watch that best suits your style, wrist and budget, with honest, no-nonsense information.
Our Methodology
Every product featured in our guides has undergone an evaluation process based on six objective criteria:
Movement
Calibre reliability, service history and actual deviation in seconds per day.
Materials
Type of crystal, case finish, strap quality and corrosion resistance.
Value for money
What you get compared to what you pay, when analysing direct competitors in the same price range.
Verified reviews
We only take into account reviews from verified Amazon buyers, disregarding unverified ones.
Durability
Genuine resistance to water, knocks and strap deformation caused by daily use.
Design
Case proportions, dial legibility and versatility for different occasions.
Transparency regarding Membership
Guía de Relojes is funded entirely through the Amazon affiliate programme. This means that when you buy a product via our links, we receive a commission of between 1% and 4% of the price, at no extra cost to you.
This monetisation structure means that our interests are aligned with yours: we only earn money if we recommend products that are genuinely worth buying and our readers are satisfied with their purchases. If we recommend rubbish, returns go up and our commissions go down. It’s an incentive model that forces us to be honest.
No brand pays us to feature in our guides. Each product’s position in our rankings is based solely on its technical merits and value for money.
Our Experience in Watchmaking
We have been monitoring the affordable watch market for over five years, paying particular attention to the €50–€600 price range, which is where the most interesting movements are found and where value for money can vary most dramatically from one model to another.
We have personally tested the leading Japanese watch brands (Seiko, Orient, Citizen, Casio) and affordable Swiss brands (Tissot, Hamilton, entry-level Longines). We closely follow the annual new releases at Baselworld and Watches & Wonders to keep up to date with the latest launches.
